JCB is launching an Electrical & Electronic Engineering Graduate Scheme in the United Kingdom. The program runs for 24 months, combines placements across large machine systems, and begins in September 2027.

Starting salaries start around £18,000 with potential for progression to around £31,500 as the scheme advances. You should have a relevant degree and be on track for at least a 2:1, with visa sponsorship not available.

• Minimum entry criteria include a bachelor’s or master’s degree such as Electrical Controls, Electrical Systems, Electrical & Electronic and must be on track for a 2:1 or higher.

Start Date - September 2027, typically for 24 months

Starting Salary - Circa £31,500

Minimum Entry Criteria - You’ll need to be near to, or have completed within the last 2 years, an appropriate bachelor’s or master’s degree such as Electrical Controls, Electrical Systems, Electrical & Electronic and must be on track to secure a 2:1 or higher.

What does the Electrical & Electronic Graduate Scheme involve day to day?

We’re investing into the future of our business and, as an Electrical & Electronic Engineering Graduate, you’ll be a crucial part of that. You’ll undertake tailored placements that perfectly suit your career aspirations, contributing to large scale projects – not just working on one small section of the machine, but on large systems or the entire machine architectures. There’s also the chance to get stuck into a more commercially focused placement to experience engineering from a unique perspective. This is a scheme for those who have a unique view of the work they’re doing and want to have their voice heard in a high‑impact environment.

What could I be doing?

• Touch screen display programming covering both front‑end UI and backend coding techniques
• Electrical design of circuits and harnesses using relevant CAD software
• Specific machine system testing and verification to evaluate new functionality or discover potential issues
• Researching future technologies that will ensure positive innovation and improvements across our new fleet of machines

What comes next?

• We’ll be reviewing applications against the essential criteria then shortlisting and sending out links to our online assessments in November 2026 - January 2027 (we’d recommend you keep a look out for emails at this point as you’ll hear from us either way).
• Once you’ve fully completed your online assessment, we’ll review it and provide you with an update within a few weeks. Please note, if you’ve not completed your online assessment then we won’t take your application further (we’ll send you a few reminders to make sure you don’t forget). If you've been progressed, you’ll be sent an invite to attend one of our in‑person Assessment Centres.
• In‑person Assessment Centres will take place from January to April 2027 (we’ll send you all the details you need).
• Following your Assessment Centre, whether you’ve been successful or not, our promise to you is that you’ll receive a call with feedback.
• If successful, congratulations! We’ll now take you through the onboarding process, which will include a familiarisation day.
• Welcome to JCB – our Emerging Talent cohorts ordinarily start in early September
