Electrical Systems Engineer - Verification & Validation - Full-time Derby/Solihull/Hybrid

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Systems Verification & Validation Engineer to join our growing team, working on a technology development programme for a more-electric power and propulsion platform in advance of a New Product Introduction programme. Projects include concept architecture studies, modelling, simulation, prototype development, and full-scale product demonstrators. Currently, we have applications considering power levels from a few kW up to several MW supported by voltage levels up to ~5kV.

This is an ideal opportunity to help develop cutting-edge electrical technology for a wide range of aerospace applications. In this role, you will be responsible for the verification & validation strategy and the coordinated testing of multiple novel technologies integrated into an electrical system. You will contribute to the company's electrical systems technology strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for verification programs, coaching junior engineers, managing projects, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop test specifications in collaboration with subject matter experts, identifying necessary testing, instrumentation, and equipment.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements through to test evidence, creating comprehensive test plans.
  • Design electrical aspects of test rigs, manage equipment requirements, and oversee their delivery and integration.
  • Define and manage rig control system requirements, including software development and debugging.
  • Work with experts to define operational limits and safety parameters.
  • On-site testing oversight, operational decision-making, and investigations.
  • Share best practices, represent expertise, and document decisions and findings.
Candidate Profile
  • UK-qualified Engineer (minimum BEng or equivalent, higher degree preferred) with aerospace electrical systems experience.
  • Experience in verification and validation of electrical systems, preferably in aerospace.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical engineering, rig design, and testing.
  • Experience in technical documentation, verification strategies, and standards.

To work on Defence projects, candidates must be UK-based, authorized to work in the UK, not US nationals, and cleared through BPSS checks.
