Job summary

UKR Group in the City of London is recruiting an Electrical Designer to design electrical systems for commercial and industrial buildings, from lighting and small power through to distribution and containment. This hands-on role offers real site exposure and close coordination with the project team.

You will produce drawings and calculations in AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP, attend meetings in person, and ensure compliance with BS 7671.

Qualifications

• Around 2 years' experience in electrical design for commercial or industrial buildings.
• Experience on commercial fit-out projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP.
• Knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant electrical codes.
• Strong drawing accuracy and coordination with engineers, contractors and clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop lighting designs and perform lux calculations.
• Prepare power distribution and containment layouts to spec and code.
• Carry out cable sizing and calculations to support design.

• Support site queries and design changes through to completion.
• Keep drawings and documentation accurate and up to standard.

Job description

UKR Group is recruiting an Electrical Designer for a well-established building services consultancy in the City of London. You'll be designing electrical systems for commercial and industrial building projects, from lighting and small power through to distribution and containment.

This is a hands-on design role with real site exposure. You won't be stuck at a desk. You'll be in coordination meetings, on site, and working shoulder to shoulder with the wider project team.

What you'll be doing

• Producing electrical design drawings, layouts and schematics in AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP
• Developing lighting design layouts and calculations, including fixture selection and illumination compliance
• Preparing power distribution, containment and small power layouts to client requirements and code
• Carrying out cable sizing and calculations to support design and specification
• Coordinating with mechanical, structural, architectural and other building services trades to resolve clashes and keep things buildable
• Attending design, coordination, client and site meetings in person
• Assisting with specifications, equipment schedules and design calculations
• Supporting site queries and design changes through to completion
• Keeping drawing revisions and documentation accurate and up to standard

What we're looking for

• Around 2 years' experience in electrical design, ideally on commercial or industrial building projects
• Experience on commercial fit-out projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP
• Practical lighting design experience, including layouts and lux calculations
• Working knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant building and electrical codes
• Strong attention to detail and accurate, coordinated drawings
• Confident communicator who can hold their own with engineers, contractors and clients
• Happy to attend design, coordination, client and site meetings in person
