Location: Telford, Shropshire (Hybrid – 3 Days On-Site)
Salary: £80,000 - £85,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

Are you an experienced Electrical Design Manager ready to lead a talented team and drive innovation in automation and control systems? The Role
Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Innovation, the Electrical Design Manager will lead a small team of Electrical Engineers and Hardware Design Engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality electrical design work packages on time and within budget. This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone passionate about technical excellence and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and inspire a team of Electrical and Hardware Design Engineers.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Applications teams to refine estimation norms and provide pre-sale technical support.
  • Work with Project Managers to create robust delivery plans for electrical engineering work packages.
  • Optimise resource allocation and utilisation to meet project demands.
  • Develop and enhance electrical design processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to support peak workloads.
  • Establish and improve internal standards, templates, and best practices for maximum efficiency.
  • Align processes with Manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Recruit, train, and develop top-tier talent to meet growing business needs.
  • Monitor team output, audit work quality, and ensure a “right-first-time” approach.
  • Provide technical leadership, embrace innovation, and ensure compliance with customer specifications and regulations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum BEng in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a technical delivery or management role.
  • Subject Matter Expert in electrical control systems.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and a proactive, organised approach.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a hands-on attitude.
  • Adaptable, enthusiastic, and reliable with a collaborative spirit.
