Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is recruiting for an Electrical Design Group Leader at Culham to lead the delivery of electrical designs for robotic systems and infrastructure. You will ensure compliance with international standards, drive improvements in electrical quality processes, and standardize designs for efficient outcomes.

You will lead a team of electrical designers and project engineers (around 20 people), manage budgets up to £500k, and oversee recruitment and workloads to support

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
• Extensive experience designing/managing electrical systems for machinery, industrial, rail, or nuclear.
• Strong governance, health and safety knowledge and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement strategies for efficient electrical design processes across robotic work cells and remote handling plants.
• Lead electrical design delivery for large, complex robotics projects, managing resources, budgets, schedules and quality.
• Develop standardized approaches to electrical design with project engineers for robust, verified circuits.
• Evaluate electrical CAD designs via peer reviews to ensure standards compliance and provide supporting documentation.
• Authorize major project milestones and align with UKAEA departments to establish global electrical processes.
• Manage contractor engagements for low/medium value engineering projects and oversee staff development within the Electrical Systems Design Group.
