Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services)

RPS is seeking Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services) to join our offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, or Newcastle on a hybrid basis.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by decades of expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing

This role offers career progression within our industry-leading team, renowned for excellence and expertise in the built environment.

Duties Include:

• Produce detailed design calculations and sketches per project requirements
• Apply good technical engineering design knowledge
• Liaise with Senior Engineers and Technicians on design and drawings
• Assist in survey, design, specification, and contract administration, working with Electrical Associates
• Perform survey, design, office administration, and site attendance
• Carry out detailed Electrical Building Services Design for new and refurbishment projects
• Support feasibility, concept, and scheme design stages
• Attend design meetings
• Inspect and report on electrical systems
• Use Building Services software for calculations
• Develop surveys, designs, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with legislation and safety standards
• Produce CAD drawings and specify products and installation standards

Who we’re looking for

You should have a degree in Electrical Engineering and experience aligned with the requirements for Incorporated Engineer status (IET or CIBSE standards).

Additional skills include:

• Designing electrical systems from concept to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A)
• Low voltage distribution, lighting, small and fixed power, fire alarm, ICT cabling
• Proficiency with Amtech and AutoCAD
• Understanding of Building Regulations Part L
