Job description

NOV Wireline division in Kintore is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer. In this role, you will utilize your technical knowledge and experience as an integral member of the Electrical Design team within a global engineering group. This group delivers innovative engineering designs and solutions for Wireline Systems, Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment, and machinery to meet customer needs. Under the guidance of the Principal Engineer, the Electrical Design Engineer produces solutions for hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical systems using advanced CAD tools where appropriate.

You will focus on both internal and external customer needs. You should be eager to take on new challenges, develop your technical and interpersonal skills, and expand your knowledge through various exciting projects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop customized customer-centric designs.
2. Conduct electrical engineering design, analysis, testing, and validation as required.
3. Plan and lead small to medium-sized projects as assigned by the Principal Engineer, with some supervision.
4. Prepare cost estimates and ensure all designs are completed within budget.
5. Prepare and review engineering documents such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports, and calculations in accordance with group policies.
6. Participate in sales contract reviews and internal design review meetings, considering commercial implications.
7. Ensure all deliverables meet client requirements and contract specifications.
8. Develop and participate in test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs.
9. Implement Engineering Change procedures thoroughly to minimize business disruption.
10. Investigate, resolve, and document engineering queries, supporting other departments as needed.
11. Stay informed about industry developments to incorporate potential concepts into new designs.
12. Support other departments and business units locally and globally, performing other duties as reasonably expected by the line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Degree in Electrical or related Engineering, or equivalent.
2. Pass at Class 2:1 or above.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience leading electrical design projects within multidisciplinary teams.
2. Knowledge of manufacturing environments.
3. Familiarity with:

• The energy industry, especially wireline intervention and completion methods.
• Wireline winches, masts, and related product designs.
• Preparing technical files compliant with European regulations.

SKILLS, TRAINING, OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:

1. Experience with Eplan.
2. Understanding of engineering documents and drawings.
3. Knowledge of ISO9001 standards.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Experience with Autodesk Inventor and PLM/PDM systems.
6. Familiarity with design codes: IEC Standards, EU Directives, CE Marking, ATEX, IECEx, Norsok.
7. Knowledge of 3D CAD software.
