Job summary

True Engineers is seeking an Intermediate / Senior Electrical Design Engineer for building services (MEP) in Chelmsford. You will join a busy engineering consultancy delivering projects across education, retail, healthcare and commercial sectors, collaborating with directors and a supportive team.

You will prepare outline and detailed designs, visit sites during construction, and provide calculations and drawings while contributing to energy use optimisation and carbon reduction goals.

Qualifications

• MEng / BEng in Electrical Engineering or an accredited building services degree.
• Electrical design engineer with at least 3 years’ experience in building services.
• Experience of Dialux or Relux.
• Excellent communicator and willingness to learn.
• Must be permanent resident in the UK or British passport holder.

Responsibilities

• Prepare outline design schemes or assist senior engineers to do so.
• Visit site during construction to monitor progress.
• Deliver detailed designs, drawings and calculations as part of a design team.
• Assist with checking of documents.
• Attend project meetings with clients and architects.
• Advise on energy use and conservation to minimise carbon footprint.

This electrical design engineer role is to join a busy, growing engineering consultancy, where you will be part of a close-knit team of engineers working on a range of sectors including education, retail, healthcare and commercial. It’s a team of conscientious engineers who have created a friendly supportive working environment, where you’ll feel at home from day one. You will be work closely with directors and receive training as needed to continue your career development. Projects include work for prestigious educational locations, the UK government and high end retailers.

Responsibilities

• Depending on your experience level you will be preparing outline design schemes or assisting senior engineers to do so.
• Visiting site during the construction phase to monitor progress
• Working as part of a design team delivering detailed designs on a wide variety of projects, producing drawings and specifications and carrying out calculations or guiding others to produce them.
• Assisting with the checking of documents
• Undertaking duties as to obtain further experience and training in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Attending a range of project group and technical meetings
• Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint

Qualifications

• You will need to be an excellent communicator and to show a willingness to learn
• Due to the nature of some of the projects you must be a permanent having been in the UK for at least 5 years or a British passport holder.
