Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Contract)

Location: Liverpool (Hybrid)

Contract Length: 6 Months

IR35 Status: Outside IR35

Rate: £40 - £45 per hour

About the Role

We are working with a leading food packaging company in Liverpool who are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support their engineering team on a contract basis. This is a hybrid role offering a mix of onsite and remote working, with an immediate start available.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical design drawings and schematics for food packaging machinery and associated systems.
• Work with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent design software to deliver accurate and compliant designs.
• Develop control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g. BS EN, Machinery Directive, PUWER).
• Support the integration of new equipment and modifications to existing machinery.
• Liaise with mechanical engineers, project managers, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Provide technical support during build, installation, and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within industrial automation, machinery, or food packaging environments.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (EPLAN P8 or AutoCAD Electrical).
• Strong understanding of electrical standards, machine safety, and CE/UKCA compliance.
• Experience producing detailed schematics, panel designs, and documentation packs.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
