Job summary

Automation Experts Ltd is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Leicestershire to design electrical and control systems for bespoke machinery and automation projects. You will produce complete electrical documentation and develop panel layouts using EPLAN tools, while specifying hardware and ensuring safety compliance.

The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, producing BOMs, and providing technical support through manufacturing, testing and commissioning phases.

Qualifications

• Proficient in EPLAN Electric P8 for design of electrical systems.
• Experience with VFDs, servo motors, and motion control.
• Knowledge of machine safety circuits and safety standards.
• Ability to produce electrical schematics and manufacturing docs.
• Collaborative work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical and control systems for bespoke machinery and automation projects.
• Produce electrical documentation: schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, BOMs.
• Develop panel layouts and 3D designs using EPLAN Pro Panel where required.
• Specify hardware: control panels, drives, safety devices, sensors.
• Design machine safety circuits and validate against standards.
• Create BOMs, wire numbering, cable schedules, and reports.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers, Software Engineers and Commissioning teams.
• Support panel manufacture, testing, installation and handover.
• Attend customer meetings and site visits as needed.
