Job description

About the role

Our team shapes projects that connect communities and impact daily life for millions. Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Electrical Design Engineer and build new futures. This role can be based from any of our regional offices across England and Scotland.

Responsibilities

  1. Design LV electrical distribution systems.
  2. Create documentation such as specifications & datasheets, cable calculations & schedules, drawings (via CAD team), review and check manufacturer documents for compliance with project specifications.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technical consultants and suppliers.

Who we're looking for

  1. Proficiency in Trimble (Amtech) ProDesign.
  2. Strong collaboration skills and ability to build relationships with designers and project teams to deliver cost-effective and acceptable design solutions.
  3. Effective communication skills at all levels, with clear and succinct writing.
  4. Ability to promote innovation and continuous improvement in design.
  5. Excellent IT skills are desirable, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
  6. Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and regulatory materials.
  7. Experience in heavy industries such as Petrochemical, Power Generation, Renewables, and Nuclear.
  8. SC security clearance or ability to obtain it.
  9. Experience in designing HV electrical systems.
  10. Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, Dialux or Relux, SKM, ETAP, Digsilent, PSCAD software.
  11. Experience in designing ATEX systems.
