About the role

Our team shapes projects that connect communities and impact daily life for millions. Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Electrical Design Engineer and build new futures. This role can be based from any of our regional offices across England and Scotland.

Role Purpose:

  • To create electrical designs and procure specialist packages in heavy industries

Due to the nature of our projects, we require individuals to hold full work rights within the UK, coupled with being eligible for SC level Security Clearance.

What you'll be doing

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Design LV electrical distribution systems
  • Create documentation such as specifications, datasheets, cable calculations, schedules, and drawings (via CAD team)
  • Review and check manufacturer documents for compliance with project specifications
  • Develop and maintain relationships with technical consultants and suppliers

Who we're looking for

Qualities and experience:

  • Proficiency in Trimble (Amtech) ProDesign
  • Focus on collaboration and building relationships with designers and project teams
  • Effective communication skills and clear writing
  • Promotion of innovation and continuous improvement in design
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Knowledge of codes of practice and regulatory materials
  • Experience in heavy industries such as Petrochemical, Power Generation, Renewables, and Nuclear

Beneficial experience:

  • Design of HV electrical systems
  • Use of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Use of Dialux or Relux
  • Use of SKM, ETAP, Digsilent, PSCAD
  • Design of ATEX systems
