Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design of bespoke industrial machinery from concept to manufacture. You will design schematics, control panels and power distribution, ensuring compliance with UKCA/CE and standards, while collaborating with mechanical, software and production teams to deliver projects on time.

The role offers a base salary up to £65,000 with benefits and an onsite South UK location.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery/automation.
• Strong proficiency with EPLAN Electric P8.
• Experience moving designs from concept to production.
• Direct customer engagement from requirements to testing.
• Knowledge of UKCA/CE compliance and ISO 13849 and EN ISO 12100.
• Ability to produce complete electrical documentation packages.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Vault or similar document control.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and single-line drawings.
• Develop electrical systems for bespoke machinery and control panels.
• Produce BOMs, wiring schedules and build documentation.
• Perform power, load calculations and safety assessments.
• Ensure designs meet UKCA/CE and standards requirements.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and production teams.
• Support prototype builds, testing and commissioning.
• Liaise with suppliers on components and panel builds.
