Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking an electrical engineer to design and develop advanced testing systems. You will play a crucial role in integrating electrical and automation systems in sectors like Automotive and Aerospace. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering and experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical. This position involves documentation, training, and troubleshooting duties, requiring some travel across the UK and occasionally overseas.

Qualifications

  • Full, clean UK Driving License.
  • Valid UK Passport.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain detailed documentation for electrical systems.
  • Train and mentor operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support sales with technical reviews of RFQs.

Job description
Overview

Design test systems, including incoming power, power distribution, HMI, and control systems. This is an exciting opportunity for both graduates and experienced engineers, with a key role in the design, development, and integration of electrical and automation systems for advanced testing solutions, working with hardware such as sensors, actuators, and control systems, and helping define site electrical requirements. Youll have the chance to contribute to cutting-edge projects across Automotive, Aerospace, Off-Highway, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Produce and maintain detailed documentation: electrical schematics, control logic diagrams, and operating manuals.
  • Train and mentor operators, maintenance personnel, and the electrical engineering team.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans for electrical and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, ISO, IEC).
  • Support sales with technical reviews of RFQs, defining system outlines from customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support to project managers, production managers, and commissioning engineers.
  • UK travel and site work required, with occasional overseas travel.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical and/or Automation Engineering.
  • Experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Full, clean UK Driving License.
  • Valid UK Passport.
Desirable / Beneficial
  • UKCA/CE Design and SafeExpert experience.
  • Beckhoff Automation Technology experience.
  • ERP experience.
  • Professional membership (IET or similar).
  • EV and/or Battery experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Ability to speak French, Italian, or German is an advantage.
