Job Title: Intermediate Design Engineer

Location: Croydon

Job Description:

Work within a multi-discipline mechanical and electrical building services team, providing design and technical advice on projects. Offer a professional consulting and design service to clients, including site surveys, meetings, feasibility studies, design, technical reports, specifications, commissioning, and defect inspections. Assist with multiple projects, meeting deadlines and budget requirements. Work under supervision, interpret project needs, and lead smaller projects when necessary. Coordinate with design team members and ensure excellent client communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Understand project scope and limitations after briefing.
  • Monitor project costs and the impact of designs on budgets.
  • Manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Represent the discipline in meetings and communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
  • Conduct site surveys and prepare reports.
  • Produce technical reports, designs, calculations, and specifications.
  • Handle project risks and produce residual risk reports per CDM regulations.
  • Promote sustainability and energy efficiency in designs.
  • Perform defect inspections, snagging, and assist with commissioning.
  • Ensure work compliance with standards and project brief, raising concerns as needed.
  • Review as-fitted drawings and O&M documents.
  • Support business development and client retention efforts.
