Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: 50,000 – 60,000 OTE 65,000

Type: Full–Time Permanent Start Date: ASAP

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on complex power generation, LV distribution, and control systems projects. This is a hands–on design role spanning from feasibility to project handover and requires solid technical skills, software proficiency, and collaborative project experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver electrical design from concept through to detailed design and project handover
• Liaise with clients, engineers, contractors, and in–house/external teams
• Prepare electrical calculations, specifications, and detailed drawings (e.g., SLDs, panel schematics, P&IDs)
• Design LV power and control systems, earthing/protection systems, and generator control panels Use CAD (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), Amtech (Trimble), and Dialux/Relux for system design
• Produce control philosophies, telemetry configs, I/O schedules, and technical documentation
• Conduct technical reviews, attend FAT/SATs, and provide on–site installation guidance
• Ensure designs comply with health & safety and legislative requirements

Candidate Profile:

Essential:

• Experience in LV power and control systems design
• Strong working knowledge of CAD, electrical calculation software, and standards
• Understanding of electrical regulations, CDM responsibilities, and HSE risks
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive with a continuous improvement mindset
• Proven ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to multidisciplinary teams

Preferred:

• Industry background in power generation, energy, or control systems
• Experience in procurement, budgeting, and construction support
• Familiarity with Trimble Amtech, SolidWorks, and technical specification writing
• Demonstrated CPD and awareness of emerging technologies
