Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is a growing Electrical Engineering company who are thriving and gaining a lot of growth and have fantastic growth plans for the next 3–5 years.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. This will be a hybrid role and requires someone on–site in Southampton twice a week.

Duties include but are not limited to:

1. Management of project specific design deliverables
2. Carry out design in accordance with Client Procedures
3. Interpret & understand the client requirements from client documents (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)
4. Communicate with the client, external design resources and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specification
5. Site surveys of existing assets
6. Optioneering and feasibility studies
7. Assist with tender pricing
8. Production of procurement specifications for electrical equipment and production of detailed design construction drawings
9. Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams
10. Review of vendors controls system Functional design Specifications for compliance
11. Review of vendor data and drawings for all electrical equipment and package plant, motor control centres, power distribution panels and field equipment panels
12. Undertaking and checking of design calculations including modelling of the complete power system (AMTECH)
13. Preparation of drawings for CAD production
14. Production of single line and block cable diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, cable schedules, equipment schedules, telemetry schedules, instrument schedules and I/O listings
15. Record and document all design changes through to completion and issue of As Built documents
16. Liaise with clients and subcontractors

1. An appropriate Electrical Qualification (BEng) or by experience
2. Experience of AutoCAD and Trimble Design Suite of software
3. Chartered Engineer status or working towards would be advantageous
