Job summary

A leading company in recruitment seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to manage the design and commissioning of low voltage electrical systems in East Yorkshire. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering and significant experience in industrial electrical systems. You will be responsible for creating wiring diagrams, providing diagnostic support, and engaging in project execution, all while adhering to BS 7671 standards.

Electrical Design Engineer
East Yorkshire

Role purpose:
In this position, you will take charge of the design and commissioning of low voltage (LV) electrical systems. The perfect candidate possesses extensive expertise in industrial electrical systems, exceptional problem–solving abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively within a large capital expenditure (CAPEX) organisation.

Key accountabilities:

• Creation and development of wiring diagrams, loop drawings, electrical schedules, and schematics for low voltage (LV) applications in accordance with the BS 7671 standard and the company's design and installation standards.
• Generation of cable sizing and calculation documentation utilising Trimble electrical design software.
• Provide diagnostic support and repairs for electrical systems, including but not limited to motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical and instrumentation panels, and automation equipment.
• Engage in the design and execution of projects aimed at upgrading electrical systems and equipment.

Key requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, accompanied by over 5 years of experience.
• Extensive experience and proficiency in the design execution of industrial electrical installations that comply with BS7671 standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in low–voltage systems, motor controls, building services, and industrial automation.
• A solid background in working with electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, VFDs, and distributed control systems or PLCs.
• Familiarity with electrical installation regulations in ATEX environments.
• Proficiency in design software such as Trimble Electrical Designer, COMOS, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Dialux is advantageous.
