A leading company in electrical and automation engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Stockton-on-Tees. This role offers involvement in the full project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning, delivering solutions for global marine and renewable energy projects. Job description

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer


Location: Stockton – on – Tees


Salary: 50,000 – 60,000


Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.30pm

An established and growing electrical and automation engineering business, operating within the marine, renewable energy, and offshore sectors, is seeking experienced Electrical Design Engineers to join their Teesside–based team.

This role offers the opportunity to be involved in the full project lifecycle – from initial concept through to commissioning and final documentation – delivering engineered solutions for global projects.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce design documentation, including functional design specs, FAT/SIT/SAT procedures, and basis of design.

  • Generate detailed design documents such as electrical schematics, GA drawings, cabinet/panel layouts, I/O lists, 3D models, BoMs, cause & effect matrices, and FMECA.

  • Liaise with Purchasing to prepare RFQs and technical specifications.

  • Support Production with technical queries and as–built documentation.

  • Carry out factory acceptance testing and site commissioning where required.

  • Compile project close–out documents including O&M manuals and spare parts lists.



Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in E–Plan, 3D modelling, and simulation platforms.

  • Experience designing systems from concept through to commissioning, including PLC/SCADA, power generation/distribution, and variable speed drives.

  • Background in marine and offshore/subsea systems is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with control and automation software is an advantage.

  • Confident communicator with strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
