Job summary

Scantec client is an established Electrical Engineering Solutions provider seeking a Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Deeside office-based team. You will support the engineering group in producing electrical design documentation, technical drawings and calculations under guidance from experienced engineers.

This role offers structured training, mentoring and hands-on project exposure across LV systems, building services, security and control systems, with a focus on developing core

Qualifications

• Desirable: HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Desirable: Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical engineering drawings.
• Desirable: Knowledge of BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations (18th edition).
• Desirable: Exposure to building services design (lighting, fire alarm, PA).
• Desirable: Experience with electrical design software such as Trimble Amtech ProDesign.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD with guidance from Lead Engineers.
• Assist in the preparation of technical drawings and documentation including cable containment layouts and electrical panel general arrangement drawings.
• Contribute to EC&I deliverables and calculations per BS 7671.
• Follow QA processes and engineering standards to ensure accuracy and clarity of information.
• Collaborate with internal teams, customers and suppliers to support project delivery.
• Undertake ongoing training and professional development to expand technical knowledge.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Our client is an established Electrical Engineering Solutions provider with over 35 years of industry experience. They deliver electrical engineering design, manufacturing and site installation services to a diverse portfolio of blue-chip clients across the oil and gas, nuclear, power generation and pharmaceutical sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career to develop their technical skills through structured training, mentoring and hands‑on project experience.

Working alongside experienced Lead Engineers and the Engineering Director, you will gain exposure to a range of electrical design projects, including low-voltage systems, building services, security and control systems.

The Role

As a Junior Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the engineering team in producing electrical design documentation, technical drawings and calculations. You will receive guidance and training from experienced engineers, with opportunities to develop your knowledge across a variety of projects and engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD, with support from Lead Engineers.
• Assist in the preparation of technical drawings and documentation, including:
• Cable containment layouts and section drawings.
• Electrical panel general arrangement drawings.
• General Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) deliverables.
• Use electrical design software to assist with cable calculations in accordance with BS 7671.
• Follow established quality assurance processes and engineering standards.
• Ensure technical information and design documentation are accurate, clear and consistent.
• Work collaboratively with internal engineering teams, customers and suppliers.
• Develop an understanding of project requirements and contribute to the successful delivery of electrical design packages.
• Maintain high standards of attention to detail throughout all design activities.
• Undertake ongoing training and professional development to expand your technical knowledge and capabilities.

About You

This opportunity would suit a recent graduate or junior engineer looking to build a long-term career in electrical design. Our client is keen to hear from candidates with varying levels of experience who demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• HNC, HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in an electrical engineering or design environment, ideally within a similar industry.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations, ideally the 18th Edition.
• Exposure to building services design, including lighting, fire alarm and public address systems.
• An understanding of EC&I installation, including cable containment, cabling and electrical distribution systems.
• Familiarity with electrical design and cable calculation software, such as Trimble Amtech ProDesign.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for learning new skills.

The above skills and qualifications are desirable rather than essential, and training will be provided.
