Job Description:

Astute's Nuclear team is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer for a well-established engineering firm known for precision, innovation, and quality. The role is based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, offering a salary up to £45,000 plus benefits including performance incentives and professional development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in control panel and MCC design, with proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of relevant standards such as BS EN 60204 and BS7671. Responsibilities include producing electrical designs, supporting project meetings, and attending factory acceptance tests.

Responsibilities:
  • Use AutoCAD to produce electrical schematics, GA's, SLD's, and cable schedules.
  • Develop engineered solutions based on specifications overseen by the Electrical Contract Manager.
  • Provide progress updates and forecasts.
  • Support client and sub-contractor meetings with technical expertise.
  • Prepare documentation for Factory Acceptance Testing and participate in test sessions.
  • Stay updated with the latest electrical engineering developments.
Qualifications:
  • Engineering qualification at least Level 4 (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Design Engineer role, especially with MCCs/control systems/schematics.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and cable design software.
  • Knowledge of BS EN 60204 and BS7671 standards.
  • Experience with Siemens equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems including electrical distribution, motor control centres, and PLC panels.
  • Ability to produce single line diagrams, BOMs, cable calculations, and schedules.

  • Ability to work proactively both independently and within a team.
