Job summary

TipTopJob in Plymouth is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for specialist machinery across multiple sectors. You will create electrical concepts, schematics and drawings and support the build, commissioning and testing stages in-house.

The role requires experience with industrial electrical design, knowledge of control systems, and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical to produce clear documentation and drawings for production teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering.
• Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery or automation.
• Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
• Experience taking designs from concept through build, test and production.
• Understanding of control systems, sensors and instrumentation.
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Research and create electrical design concepts, schematics and drawings.

• Produce supporting documentation for the project.
• Provide in-house hands-on build, commissioning and testing support.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical design and development of specialist machinery and equipment.

Electrical Design Engineer Responsibilities

• : Research and create electrical design concepts, schematics and drawings
• : Make recommendations regarding design specifications to ensure equipment and processes match client requirements
• : Produce all supporting documentation
• : Provide in:house hands:on support with the build, commissioning and testing of equipment
• : Support electrical fault:finding and problem:solving during equipment build, testing and commissioning
• : Maintain technical expertise and knowledge of emerging technologies, processes and techniques

Electrical Design Engineer Requirements

• : Relevant electrical engineering qualification such as a degree, HNC, HND or apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
• : Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery, process equipment or automated equipment
• : Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software
• : Experience working on engineering design projects from concept through to build, testing and production
• : Understanding of industrial control systems, electrical components, sensors and instrumentation
• : Ability to read, create and work from electrical schematics and technical drawings
