Job summary

Jonathan Lee Group seeks an Electrical Design Engineer in Plymouth to lead the electrical design and development of specialist machinery across aerospace, wind and automotive sectors. You will create concepts, schematics and drawings, ensuring equipment meets client requirements and quality standards.

In this role you will produce supporting documentation, support build, commissioning and testing, and troubleshoot electrical issues during deployment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery or automated equipment.
• Ability to read, create and work from electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation.
• Background delivering engineering design projects from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop electrical design concepts, schematics and drawings.
• Provide recommendations to match client requirements and specifications.
• Prepare all supporting documentation for electrical designs.
• Support build, commissioning and testing of equipment in-house.
• Assist fault-finding during build, testing and commissioning.

Our client is a well-established manufacturer of innovative equipment for a variety of industry sectors including aerospace, wind and automotive industry sectors. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical design and development of specialist machinery and equipment.

Electrical Design Engineer Responsibilities:

• Research and create electrical design concepts, schematics and drawings
• Make recommendations regarding design specifications to ensure equipment and processes match client requirements
• Produce all supporting documentation
• Provide in-house hands-on support with the build, commissioning and testing of equipment
• Support electrical fault-finding and problem-solving during equipment build, testing and commissioning
• Maintain technical expertise and knowledge of emerging technologies, processes and techniques

Electrical Design Engineer Requirements:

• Relevant electrical engineering qualification such as a degree, HNC, HND or apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery, process equipment or automated equipment
• Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software
• Experience working on engineering design projects from concept through to build, testing and production
• Understanding of industrial control systems, electrical components, sensors and instrumentation
• Ability to read, create and work from electrical schematics and technical drawings
