Opportunity

We have an opening for an Electrical Design Engineer based at our offices in Peterborough and across sites around the UK. The role involves designing panel and field installations from concept to on-site commissioning, focusing on automated control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Generate panel layouts and bills of materials.
  2. Perform LV distribution and cable calculations.
  3. Create electrical control schematic diagrams.
  4. Develop instrument loop diagrams and cable block diagrams.
  5. Design PLC wiring diagrams and I/O schedules.
  6. Design machinery safety circuits and conduct risk assessments in accordance with BS EN ISO 13849/60261.
  7. Prepare supporting technical and installation documentation.
  8. Liaise with site teams to meet project deadlines.
  9. Lead project commissioning and safety validation.
Skills and Experience
  1. Knowledge or experience of machine safety and safety circuits; understanding component SIL and machine PL ratings is advantageous but training can be provided.
  2. Knowledge of PLC control wiring systems, instrumentation, and motor starter control types.
  3. Experience with AutoCAD, Amtech, or equivalent software.
  4. Understanding of standards related to industrial automation and controls design.
  5. Confidence in fault finding within large control panels and machinery.
Qualifications
  1. Electrical qualifications such as HNC, BTEC, and/or NVQ Level 3.

  3. Experience in electrical design within industrial environments or food and beverage manufacturing.
