Job summary

Keyman Personnel is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Solihull to join a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. You will develop electrical building-services designs from initial concepts through delivery, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams.

The role targets intermediate to early senior level, offering hands-on design work, calculations, and technical documentation for diverse built-environment projects.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical systems for building-services projects.
• Practical experience with electrical calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to take ownership of electrical design packages and deliverables.
• Good communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical building-services designs in line with project requirements.
• Carry out electrical calculations, including load assessments, distribution and cable sizing.
• Develop lighting and power designs using appropriate design principles and software.
• Produce drawings, specifications, equipment schedules and other technical documentation.
• Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines.
• Contribute to design meetings and communicate technical information clearly to clients and project teams.
• Support the resolution of technical queries during project delivery.
• Review and check design work to ensure quality and compliance.
• Manage design deliverables and contribute to meeting project deadlines.

Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Solihull, West Midlands

Salary: £38,000–£55,000 depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 36.25 hours per week

About the Role

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer at Intermediate to early Senior level to join a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Solihull.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical building-services professional who enjoys developing practical, coordinated and energy-efficient design solutions and wants to work across a range of built-environment projects.

You will work alongside experienced engineers and other design disciplines, contributing to projects from initial design through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical building-services designs in line with project requirements.


• Carry out electrical calculations, including load assessments, distribution and cable sizing.


• Develop lighting and power designs using appropriate design principles and software.


• Produce drawings, specifications, equipment schedules and other technical documentation.

About You
