Job description

Our client, operating within sectors such as Renewables, Marine, Oil and Gas, Energy, Industrial, and Tunnelling, is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer on a permanent basis at their site in Trafford Park, Manchester.

The Electrical Design Engineer should have a strong background in electrical design engineering, capable of designing all aspects of control system panels. They should possess excellent skills in the build, installation, and commissioning of control system panels.

This individual must be an effective people manager, demonstrating supervision skills in a calm and professional manner. A strong teamwork mentality is essential, along with a willingness to support and guide the team to improve performance.

The role requires a proactive approach to project support, including handling emails and calls during and outside working hours. The engineer must be capable of gaining SC Security Clearance for work within secure marine applications.

Applicants should have a full driving license and hold a degree-level education.

The supervisor will manage all workshop aspects safely and efficiently, maintaining quality standards across projects, and supervising workshop staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Proficiency with AutoCAD and ideally EPLAN.
  2. Development of internal and external General Arrangement drawings.
  3. Creation of schematics.
  4. Knowledge of hardware aspects of PLC systems.
  5. Power distribution design for 24VDC and 240VAC.
  6. Design of 4-20mA loops for integration with PLC modules and field devices.
  7. Providing technical support for installation and panel matters.
  8. Supporting and handing over projects to the workshop team.
  9. Ensuring timely project delivery as per review meetings.
  10. Supporting timesheet and expense processes.
  11. Managing holiday bookings appropriately.
  12. Delivering DPRs for all sites and assessing impacts.
  13. Delivering FAT systems.
  14. Meeting all project deliverables and reporting issues promptly.
  15. Being available during working hours via phone or email for support.
  16. Providing weekly project progress reports.
  17. Maintaining high standards in the office, site, and engineering staff.
  18. Being aware of health and safety considerations.
  19. Supporting the Siemens Partner Program.
  20. Training to work offshore and supporting offshore operations if required.
