Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design and develop controls for automated machinery and robotics. The role splits 70% in office design and 30% in the field across UK & Europe.

You will work on PLC/HMI programming, upgrade existing systems, and support installations. A two-year background in a similar role and a recognised electrical qualification are required.

Qualifications

• The Electrical Design Engineer will have PLC/HMI programming skills and knowledge of Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi or Omron.
• At least two years' experience in a similar role and knowledge of robotic machinery is preferred.
• Recognised electrical engineering qualification (NVQ 3, HND, 18th edition).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new software controls from customer requirements.
• Upgrade and modify existing control systems per specifications.
• Assist with on-site installations and commissioning.
• Provide remote and onsite technical support for customers and field engineers.
• PLC & HMI programming and project work as needed.

Our client is an established manufacturer of special purpose machinery and due to their continued success Staffbase have been appointed to recruit for the position of Electrical Design Engineer.

Salary 45K – 50K Negotiable + Benefits

The successful candidate will be an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with good plc skills.

Time will be split 70% in office design and 30% working in the field supporting installs commissioning etc. etc UK & Europe.

The Role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the design and development of new controls systems for a wide range of automated machinery and robotics.

Duties will include but is not limited to the following;

• Design and develop new software controls from customer requirements
• Upgrade and modify existing control systems in accordance with specification
• Assist with on–site installations and commissioning
• Provide remote and onsite technical support for customers and field engineers
• plc & HMI programming
• Undertake project work as and when required

Candidate:

The Electrical Design Engineer will have excellent PLC/HMI programming skills with knowledge of either Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi or Omron plc software.

You will have at least two years experience in a similar role and ideally you will have a good knowledge and understanding of robotic machinery.

You will have a recognised qualification in electrical engineering e.g. NVQ 3, HND, 18th edition.

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday 40 hrs
