Job description

The Role

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be an integral member of the Design Team; responsible for the design of bespoke control systems for a global OEM specialising in industrial combustion plant. The role will see you using AutoCAD Electrical to generate electrical schematics, layout drawings and cable schedules for bespoke industrial control panels, as well as compiling bill of materials, parts lists and other project–specific electrical documentation.

Whilst the position is office–based, you will still have plenty of opportunities to get hands on; undertaking functional testing and verification of control panels, supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) as well as occasional site visits to attend design meetings, conduct surveys, and assist the Field Service Team with fault finding and complex commissioning projects.

For candidates with an interest in automation or functional safety, there may also be opportunities to support PLC and HMI software development, hazard studies, and functional safety assessments (BS EN 61508 and BS EN 61511) within this role.

The Candidate

The successful candidate is likely to be qualified to HNC or HND level in a relevant electrical/electronic engineering discipline, familiar with electrical circuit theory and control panel design, experienced using CAD software, and familiar with relevant UK electrical legislation (BS 7671, BS EN 60204, etc.). The successful candidate will be detail oriented and a strong problem solver; taking a methodical approach to their work to ensure an accurate and efficient workflow.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to progress their career in an electrical engineering/design role, with excellent training and career development opportunities available.
