Role Summary
P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team based in Great Yarmouth on a full-time, permanent basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and layout of electrical control panels, including associated steelwork.
- Creation of electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and site layout drawings using AutoCAD.
- Perform cable calculations and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Select components and materials appropriate for project requirements.
- Design and document PLC logic and control systems.
- Collaborate with the team to conduct functional testing of systems prior to deployment.
- Lead and/or assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in the presence of clients as required.
- Ensure that health and safety assessments are carried out and adhered to.
- Maintain adherence to quality control processes and project specifications.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong background in electrical control system design.
- Experience in cable sizing, component selection, and schematic development.
- Knowledge of PLC systems (design and logic development).
- Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to perform risk assessments.
- Good communication skills - verbal and written.
- Ability to manage own workload and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and documentation procedures.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Must live locally to Great Yarmouth or be willing to relocate.
- Must have a clean criminal record.
Desirable
- Previous experience in industrial automation or marine/offshore control systems.
- Hands-on experience with commissioning and troubleshooting.
