Responsibilities:
- Provide electrical engineering design capabilities for UKAEA programs.
- Design and specify electrical systems and prepare technical documentation, including CAD deliverables.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team to design complex electrical systems using database-driven CAD applications.
- Design electrical systems for automation, robotics, LV distribution, motion control, and PLCs.
- Perform calculations for circuit protection, cable sizing, and load estimation.
- Create detailed drawings and diagrams adhering to UKAEA and international standards.
- Select appropriate components and manage database libraries for accuracy.
- Ensure technical information is correctly configured with support from the configuration team.
- Communicate proactively with the engineering team to progress designs and resolve issues.
- Perform formal checks on colleagues' work and produce presentation materials for design reviews.
- Follow UKAEA procedures, manage time effectively, and coordinate tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Contribute to project planning to ensure delivery targets are met.
Qualifications (Essential):
- HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with database-driven CAD systems such as SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Knowledge of international standards including BS EN 60204 and BS 7671.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacture principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Familiarity with SmarTeam PDM or similar systems.
- Experience with automation, process plant, or robotics.
- Knowledge of functional safety for industrial systems.
- BS Th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
Experience:
- Experience designing complex electrical systems with database-driven ECAD software, preferably within multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of design considerations for vacuum, remote handling, cryogenics, and material selection in fusion applications is advantageous.
