Job description

Due to succession planning within the business, our client is looking for an Electrical Engineer with solid design experience. You will work alongside the incumbent Design Manager, who has been with the business for 40 years. This is a permanent role paying up to 45k per annum.

This is a varied role involving design (approximately 40%), testing, R&D, quality, shopfloor work, and laboratory work, which is being built this year.

It offers a great opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing organization and eventually make the role your own, with future progression opportunities as the current Design Manager prepares to retire.

Our client is not looking for someone who can do everything listed below but for a solid electrical engineer who can learn within the business.

Skills Required:
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
  • Basic electrical theory knowledge – current, resistance, voltage beneficial.
  • Maths and simple geometry knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring specifications.
  • Ability to liaise with and discuss electrical requirements with technical engineers.
  • Ability to create wire designs from detailed performance and test requirements.
  • Basic understanding of conductors and insulation materials.
  • Ideally, some electrical testing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 9100 is a plus.
Other Skills:
  • Excellent admin and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, think proactively and creatively.
  • Project management and technical report writing skills.
  • Collaborative work ethic at all organizational levels.
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Creating and maintaining product designs.
  • Understanding and interpreting customer requirements.
  • Creating and adjusting Bills of Materials and Routings for shopfloor use.
  • Responsible for data sheets, product specifications, and First Article Inspection.
  • Solving production problems and liaising with production/machine operatives.
