Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team developing sophisticated inspection and metrology equipment used across global technology markets.

We are very open-minded about industry background. You may have worked within semiconductor equipment, automotive, aerospace, automation, robotics, special-purpose machinery or another related engineering environment. What matters most is that you understand electrical design, enjoy solving problems and communicate well with people across different engineering disciplines.

The role

You will support the electrical and electronic design of complete machines, covering areas such as control panels, cables, wiring looms, PCBs and component selection.

Working closely with mechanical, software, physics and mechatronics specialists in the UK and Germany, you will help take designs from initial concept through to manufacture, testing and product certification.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing electrical systems for complex machines and equipment.
• Producing electrical schematics, drawings and technical documentation.
• Designing control panels and selecting suitable electrical components.
• Supporting the design and specification of machine cabling, wiring and looms.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Troubleshooting electrical problems during machine build and testing.
• Supporting product compliance and certification activities.
• Contributing ideas that improve products and engineering processes.

We would like to hear from people who have:

• Experience in electrical or electronic design.
• The ability to produce and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
• Some experience with electrical panels, component selection, machine wiring or cabling.
• Experience using an electrical CAD package such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or a similar system.
• A practical and proactive approach to solving engineering problems.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with different teams.

Experience designing complete machines or automated equipment would be helpful, but it is not essential. We are equally interested in candidates from industries such as semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, robotics, automation, manufacturing equipment or other relevant technical environments.
