Samuel Frank is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business in Gloucester. You will design electrical control systems for standard and bespoke automated machinery used by customers worldwide, taking ownership of projects and collaborating with mechanical and software engineers to deliver complete machinery solutions.

The role requires experience in electrical design within automated machinery, AutoCAD Electrical, and an understanding of machinery safety

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design for automated machinery or similar environments.
• Knowledge of machinery safety and CE compliance.
• Proactive, take ownership of technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Create control-panel and cabinet layouts.
• Prepare bills of materials and termination lists.
• Select electrical components with cost/availability in mind.
• Work from customer specs and internal documentation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and pneumatic engineers.
• Present designs in design reviews.
• Support risk assessments and CE compliance.
• Report design changes and maintain docs.
• Provide occasional customer support and fault-finding.
• Take technical lead on assigned projects.

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business in Gloucester.

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will design electrical control systems for standard and bespoke automated machinery used by customers worldwide. Projects include assembly and test equipment, robotic loading cells, casting machinery and automated production systems.

This position will suit an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of their work and collaborating with mechanical and software engineers to develop complete machinery solutions.

Key aspects of the Electrical Design Engineer role include:

• Producing electrical schematics (company uses AutoCAD Electrical)
• Creating control-panel and cabinet layouts
• Producing bills of materials, termination lists and supporting technical documentation
• Selecting electrical components with consideration for availability, obsolescence, standardisation and cost
• Working from customer specifications and internal machine sales documentation
• Collaborating with mechanical, software and pneumatic engineers
• Presenting electrical designs during project design reviews
• Supporting electrical risk assessments, machine safety and CE compliance
• Identifying and reporting technical risksManaging design changes and maintaining accurate project documentation
• Providing occasional customer support, including presentations and fault-finding
• Taking the technical lead on allocated projects

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will ideally have:

• Previous electrical design experience within automated machinery, special-purpose machinery, control systems or a similar engineering environment
• AutoCAD Electrical skills
• An understanding of machinery safety, risk assessments and CE compliance
• A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of technical challenges
