Job summary

Adeptus Talent is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer for a major UK infrastructure project at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. You will deliver safe, compliant electrical designs within multidisciplinary teams to uphold high safety and quality standards.

Candidates with transferable electrical design experience from building services, construction, energy or infrastructure are encouraged. Nuclear experience is not essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in electrical design engineering or related building services.
• Understanding of electrical design standards and CDM requirements.
• Strong communication and IT skills (MS Office, Teams, SharePoint).
• Collaborative, proactive with emphasis on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical building services design solutions for Building Services.
• Produce specifications, datasheets, calculations, schedules and technical drawings.
• Support electrical distribution, lighting, small power, plant supplies, and fire alarm/detection systems.
• Review vendor documentation for compliance with project specs and standards.
• Coordinate with design, construction and engineering teams for integration.
• Support design reviews and CDM compliance.

Job description

Adeptus Talent is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer on behalf of a leading engineering services business working on the Hinkley Point C project.

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 + £5,420 car allowance

Location: Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset

Travel & Accommodation: Allowance available for those travelling from further afield

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week, working a 9-day fortnight

Security Clearance: BPSS

The Opportunity:

Join a major UK infrastructure project as an Electrical Design Engineer at Hinkley Point C. You’ll help deliver safe, compliant electrical designs while working with multidisciplinary teams to maintain high standards of safety and quality.

Previous nuclear experience is not essential — candidates with transferable electrical design experience from building services, construction, energy or infrastructure are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop electrical building services design solutions for Building Services.
• Produce specifications, datasheets, calculations, schedules and technical drawings.
• Support the design of electrical distribution systems, lighting and emergency lighting, small power, plant supplies, and fire alarm and detection systems.
• Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant standards.
• Coordinate with design, construction and engineering teams to ensure effective integration of designs.
• Support design reviews, technical assurance and compliance with CDM regulations.
• Identify and communicate design risks, providing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Maintain strong relationships with colleagues, consultants and suppliers while promoting safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About You:

Essential:

• Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Building Services or a relevant discipline.
• Experience in electrical design engineering or a related building services environment.
• Understanding of electrical design standards, codes of practice and CDM requirements.
• Strong communication, IT and organisational skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint.
• A collaborative, proactive approach with a strong commitment to health, safety and quality.

Desirable:

• Experience in nuclear, energy, infrastructure or major construction projects.
• Knowledge of Trimble ProDesign, DIALux evo and AutoCAD.
