Job description

Job Title: Electrical Cubical Design Engineer - Grid Technologies

A Snapshot of Your Day:

Your day involves producing wiring diagrams from schematic designs for control and protection cubicles and distribution/supplies kiosks, ensuring they meet deadlines and high standards. You liaise closely with panel technicians and test engineers to maintain quality throughout the manufacturing process. You attend initial start-up and ongoing project review meetings to stay aligned with project goals and assist with planning and monitoring progress against budgets.

You’ll also order all necessary materials and parts for the production of protection cubicles, track their status, and follow up with suppliers as needed. Throughout the day, you work to detailed design intent documents and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the company, aiming to enhance efficiency and quality in your processes.

  2. Collaboration: By working closely with other engineers, project managers, and clients, you will ensure that all design solutions meet technical requirements and customer expectations.
  3. Problem-Solving: Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and resolving design issues, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  4. Sustainability: Your designs will contribute to the development of greener energy solutions, supporting the global transition to renewable energy sources.
  5. Quality Assurance: You will implement rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

What you’ll bring:

  • Ideally apprentice served and with typically 5 years experience within the relevant electrical protection/control design background.
  • ONC/HNC in an electrical related discipline is desirable.
  • Knowledge of BS & IEC standards related to HVDC Substations for control and protection cubicles.
  • Excellent understanding of schematic design, including Protection & Control, AC/DC distribution.
  • Good working knowledge of Autocad and Engineering Base packages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and present ideas to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A genuine interest in emerging technologies and a drive to continuously improve and innovate within the field of grid technologies.
