Job description

OLG Recruitment is currently seeking Electrical Craftspeople for a major client located in Scunthorpe. This is a long-term contract position working Monday to Friday.

As an Electrical Craftsperson, you will act as the engineering specialist, working on overhead cranes to perform preventative maintenance and inspections to meet quality control and performance standards. You will also provide expertise to identify and quickly rectify faults to ensure manufacturing continuity and quality.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all activities comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
  • Maintaining compliance with company and legislative standards.
  • Supporting manufacturing performance and improvement plans.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities through collaborative efforts.
  • Assessing risks for plant, process, and organizational changes in line with change management processes.
  • Handling isolation and immobilization activities related to craft maintenance.

Specific duties involve:

  • Providing engineering expertise to diagnose and correct complex faults.
  • Completing maintenance work safely, timely, and to standards.
  • Updating skills through self-study and training in maintenance techniques and equipment.
  • Reporting on breakdowns and repairs, and recommending improvements.
  • Training new specialists and engineering staff.
  • Supervising personnel and managing work safety protocols.
  • Providing flexible shift coverage during breakdowns as needed.

Context:

  • Working as part of a team within manufacturing, site services, operational support, or engineering development.
  • Providing specialist skills for engineering tasks beyond the capacity of manufacturing team members.
  • Inspecting, installing, diagnosing faults, and directing resources for repairs.
  • Maintaining high standards and participating in continuous improvement.

Knowledge and Experience:

Ideally, candidates should have NVQ Level 3 qualification, obtained through a craft apprenticeship or Modern Apprenticeship. Significant plant experience with relevant equipment is required. Supervisory capabilities are also necessary.
