Job location: Chesterfield

Our client, an engineering company, is seeking an Electrical Controls System Engineer / Software Engineer Controls System for a 6-month contract position (Outside IR35) in Chesterfield, UK.

Role

As a Controls System Engineer, you will be responsible for site installation, site retesting, site surveys, full integrated system testing, CFAT, SAT, and installation. You should have experience in system specification, design, development, and testing, along with hands-on experience with Siemens S7 PLCs and WinCC SCADA systems.

Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivering project modules, including PLC, SCADA, Testing, Networking, Documentation, and Hardware design, ensuring projects meet technical and quality standards, identifying project opportunities and variations, and adhering to company quality processes and procedures.

Experience & Qualifications

• Strong understanding of control panels, electrical installation, and instrumentation solutions.
• A degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or a relevant discipline, or status as an Incorporated Engineer or working towards professional registration.

Desirable Experience

• Experience developing project modules, including PLC code, SCADA scripts, Mimics, and communication drivers.
• Experience in developing O & M documentation, FDS, DDS, test specifications, and design testing methodologies.
• Experience in site work documentation, risk assessments, method statements, site test documentation, and managing observations, variations, reworks, and system shipping.

Important:

The successful candidate will be required to obtain SC clearance upon starting the contract.
