Job summary

Syntegon, Bristol, is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, program and commission advanced control systems for our high-tech packaging machines—both in-house and at customer sites worldwide.

You will be involved across the full lifecycle, from software development to commissioning, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLC programming using Ladder Logic, FBD, or Structured Text.
• HNC or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Strong understanding of power and control circuits.

• Hands-on engineering experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Job Description

As an Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, programming, and commissioning advanced control systems for our high-tech packaging machines - both in-house and at customer sites around the globe.

In this role, you will be involved throughout the full lifecycle of our machines. From software development to commissioning, you ensure that our solutions meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Qualifications

Knowledge and skills

• Experience with PLC programming using Ladder Logic, FBD, or Structured Text (Rockwell, Beckhoff).

• HNC or equivalent qualification (vocational education is an advantage).

• Strong understanding of power and control circuits.

• Ability to produce 2D electrical wiring diagrams using tools such as AutoCAD or EPLAN.

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Practical, hands-on engineering experience.

• Willing to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally (a valid passport and driving licence are required).
