Job summary

Kliklok, a Syntegon company based in Bristol, UK, is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, program and commission advanced control systems for our packaging machines. You will be involved across the full lifecycle from software development to on-site commissioning, ensuring quality, safety and performance standards.

Travel occasionally to customer sites and collaborate with international teams in a fast-paced, global organisation with a local spirit.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLC programming using Ladder Logic, FBD, or Structured Text.
• HNC or equivalent qualification.
• Strong understanding of power and control circuits.
• Ability to produce 2D electrical wiring diagrams using AutoCAD or EPLAN.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Practical, hands-on engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, program and commission control systems for packaging machines, in-house and on customer sites.
• Contribute to software development and commissioning throughout the machine lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, safety and performance standards.
• Travel occasionally domestically and internationally to support installations.

In this role, you will be involved throughout the full lifecycle of our machines. From software development to commissioning, you ensure that our solutions meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

What you’ll bring:

Knowledge and skills

• Experience with PLC programming using Ladder Logic, FBD, or Structured Text (Rockwell, Beckhoff).
• HNC or equivalent qualification (vocational education is an advantage).
• Strong understanding of power and control circuits.
• Ability to produce 2D electrical wiring diagrams using tools such as AutoCAD or EPLAN.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Practical, hands-on engineering experience.
