Job Description

Reporting to the Facilities Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  1. Managing the maintenance and switching of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) equipment, including producing switching plans to facilitate system maintenance without disrupting operations.
  2. Overseeing the maintenance and uptime of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems.
  3. Owning, operating, and maintaining HV and LV main distribution systems, including protection devices, Power Factor Correction (PFC), and Surge Protective Devices (SPDs).
  4. Managing, operating, and commissioning site Building Management Systems (BMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  5. Providing on-the-job training for shift personnel, technicians, and engineers.
  6. Producing weekly energy reports and analyzing data related to energy consumption, effluent, and operations.
  7. Specifying, designing, and commissioning control panels and systems.
  8. Defining maintenance requirements for owned equipment and writing operational and performance specifications for electrical and control systems, including commissioning plans.

Qualifications and Skills

You will need:

  1. A solid understanding of plant operation items such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motors, boilers, chillers, HVAC, pumps, and vacuum systems.
  2. The ability to read, produce, and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, including P&IDs and flow diagrams.
  3. Experience working with pneumatic systems and a good understanding of electrical and instrumentation controls.
  4. High-level fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic control systems.
  5. Strong communication skills, capable of interacting at all levels and presenting to senior management.
  6. Knowledge of air conditioning systems, humidity, and room pressure controls.
  7. Experience in facilities management or building services environments.
  8. Familiarity with electrical regulations and standards.
  9. Proficiency in common software packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  10. Relevant apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.
  11. Degree-level education or similar in electrical or controls disciplines.
  12. Basic knowledge of air conditioning, humidification, DI water, and pH correction systems.
  13. An appreciation for energy management and continuous improvement in energy and environmental performance.
  14. Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and its application in facilities systems monitoring.
