Electrical Control Design Engineer

Job type: Permanent

Our client, an engineering company, is seeking a EC&I Design Engineer for a permanent position in Maidstone. This role involves working within highly regulated environments such as nuclear, defence, oil & gas, or power generation.

Role

This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, based at the control panel manufacturing facility in Maidstone, with the option for hybrid working. As an EC&I Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical EC&I designs of control panels and related systems.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage and complete EC&I engineering and design projects.
• Support construction during manufacturing, including change control.
• Understand customer requirements and translate them into engineering solutions.
• Communicate with clients and manage project scope expectations.
• Prepare, check, and approve engineering and design estimates.
• Control and report project costs, scope changes, and man-hours.

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications/experience.
• 5-10 years of professional engineering design or technical specialist experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Eplan, AutoCAD Electrical, and familiarity with AMTECH.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering, including designing, testing, and evaluating engineering designs.
• Ability to meet UK security clearance criteria.

Advantageous Knowledge

Experience in Low Voltage switchgear design, control/automation systems, motor control centers, and variable drive systems.
