Electrical Control & Instrumentation Technician - Gas Storage

MC Technical Recruitment are recruiting for an EC&I Technician to work at one of the largest underground gas storage facilities in the UK. This site provides strategic gas storage services that contribute to balancing gas supply and demand within the national gas transmission system. The EC&I Technician will form part of the maintenance team and will be responsible for conducting planned and reactive maintenance work on the site's electrical systems to ensure maximum plant availability and minimum downtime.

Responsibilities:

1. Fault finding, repair work and planned and unplanned maintenance on all electrical assets to maximise plant availability. This includes motors, switchgear, variable speed drives, PLCs and site instrumentation (pressure, level, flow etc).
2. Carrying out equipment isolations to permit requirements to ensure plant is safe to perform maintenance on.
3. Assisting during the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment.
4. Work with the site engineering team on plant improvement projects and upgrades.
5. Liaising and supervising site contractors when required.
6. Assisting during site shutdowns when required.
7. Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS.

Work Schedule:
This role is Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 4.30pm.

Ideal Candidate:

1. An apprenticeship in electrical engineering or similar.
2. A relevant engineering qualification at HNC/ONC/NVQ level or similar.
3. At least 4+ years of maintenance experience across electrical maintenance in a relevant engineering environment - power plant, refinery, paper mill, steel works, chemical site etc.
4. Experience using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
5. Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., health and safety and environmental etc.
