Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear is seeking an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer to develop and verify EC&I solutions across UK projects, including radiometric systems. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

The role offers a hybrid working pattern with a 37-hour week, flexible locations in Moor Row, Warrington, Leicester, or Bristol, and opportunities for growth in a high-impact nuclear safety environment.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in electronics, control and instrumentation or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it.
  • Experience in EC&I, radiometric or nuclear safety context is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and verify technical solutions, ensuring safety and quality standards.
  • Lead investigations and drive design improvements across projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to manage specs and delivery.

The role

As an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of developing, delivering, and supporting radiometric characterisation and alarm systems across the UK and internationally. Day-to-day, you’ll

  • Develop and verify technical solutions, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Lead investigations and drive design improvements across projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to manage specifications and delivery

  • Promote engineering excellence, health and safety, and cultural change across the business

This is a full-time role with a 37-hour working week, based at one of our key locations Moor Row, (Cumbria) Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire) or Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available, with an expectation of 3 days per week in the office.

Essential Experience Of The Electrical, Control And Instrumentation Engineer

  • Working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams across varied project types
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Delivering systems input and providing post-installation or third-line technical support
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers on-site for testing, installation, and commissioning
  • Background in EC&I, Physics, or Radiometric, with experience in control systems and analogue/digital electronics

Qualifications For The Electrical, Control And Instrumentation Engineer

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent) in electronics, control and instrumentation, or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it

Security Clearance
