Job description

Electrical Contracts Manager / Estimator required in North Somerset

This full-time role combines office and on-site responsibilities, managing projects from initial planning through to completion. While the primary focus is on contract management, the ideal candidate will also support estimating duties as needed. Travel and time away from home will be required, with projects located both locally and across the country.

Start Date: ASAP

Job Type: Permanent

Location: North Somerset

Office-based with travel to sites (local and national)

Salary: Up to 60k (depending on experience)

Site Hours: 40hrs p/ wk

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage electrical contracts from planning to project handover.
  • Prepare tenders and quotations using technical drawings and specifications.
  • Identify additional work opportunities and manage variations and associated costs.
  • Create risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
  • Procure materials and manage supply chains efficiently.
  • Coordinate and allocate labour resources in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Ensure site health & safety compliance, working closely with the site supervisor.
  • Oversee subcontractors and other trades on-site.
  • Manage project documentation and test certifications.
  • Provide post-completion Operation & Maintenance (O&M) support.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations and reporting.
  • Support the Managing Director in estimating projects up to 500,000 in value.
  • Accurately price electrical systems including motors, controls, instrumentation, containment, and cabling.
  • Carry out site assessments to identify potential risks or issues.
  • Attend handover meetings to clarify project scopes, costings, and technical requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Contracts Manager role within the electrical industry.
  • Proven track record of delivering technical solutions and costings for large industrial projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and experience in preparing RAMS documentation.
  • Full (preferably clean) UK driving licence

Additional Information:

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check upon acceptance of the role.
