Job summary

Heated Mechanical Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to oversee a portfolio of electrical projects across London and the surrounding counties. Based in Croydon, you will lead Project Managers and site teams to deliver on time, safely and within budget.

You will manage programmes, costs, cashflow and client relationships, ensuring high standards and compliance with CDM 2015 and BS 7671 while driving continuous improvement across delivery processes.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years' experience within electrical contracting.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as Electrical Contracts Manager or Senior Electrical Project Manager.
• Proven experience managing multiple electrical projects simultaneously.
• Projects typically valued between £500,000 and £5 million or above.
• Background in commercial, residential, public sector or fit-out projects.
• Experience managing Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
• Strong commercial awareness, including cashflow forecasting, cost reporting and budget management.
• Strong knowledge of electrical installations, BS 7671 and health and safety requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to join an established electrical contracting business based in Croydon.

The business delivers a varied portfolio of electrical projects across London and the surrounding areas, working across commercial, residential, public sector and fit-out environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager or Senior Electrical Project Manager looking to take responsibility for multiple projects, lead project delivery teams and play a key role in improving operational processes and commercial performance.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and the Commercial team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest standards.

The Role

As Electrical Contracts Manager, you will oversee multiple electrical projects from pre-construction and mobilisation through to installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of electrical projects across London and the surrounding Home Counties.
• Overseeing project delivery to ensure works are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required specification.
• Managing and supporting Project Managers and Site Supervisors across multiple live projects.
• Reviewing project programmes, resource plans, procurement schedules and method statements.
• Allocating labour, materials and plant to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Leading client meetings and maintaining strong relationships with clients, principal contractors and consultants.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets, cashflow forecasts and profit margins.
• Producing monthly financial forecasts and cost-to-complete reports.
• Working closely with Quantity Surveyors and the Commercial team on valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
• Reviewing existing operational procedures and introducing improvements to project delivery, reporting, quality control and handover processes.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015, and relevant electrical regulations.
• Overseeing site inspections, quality audits, RAMS and the completion of outstanding actions.
• Ensuring all testing certificates, O&M manuals and handover documentation are completed accurately.
• Supporting recruitment, staff development and the ongoing improvement of the project delivery team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 8 years' experience within electrical contracting.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience as an Electrical Contracts Manager or Senior Electrical Project Manager.
• Proven experience managing multiple electrical projects simultaneously.
• Experience delivering projects typically valued between £500,000 and £5 million or above.
• A background in commercial, residential, public sector or fit-out projects.
• Previous experience managing Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
• Strong commercial awareness, including cashflow forecasting, cost reporting and budget management.
• Experience working closely with Quantity Surveyors and commercial teams.
• A track record of improving operational processes and project delivery procedures.
• Strong knowledge of electrical installations, BS 7671 and health and safety requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and resolve issues proactively.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and project management software.
• A full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications:

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• SMSTS.
• ECS/JIB Gold Card at Manager or Supervisor level.
• First Aid at Work.

Desirable qualifications and experience:

• HNC, HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related subject.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Inspection and Testing qualification, such as C&G 2391 or equivalent.
• Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
• Experience working on data centres, healthcare, education or other critical environments.
