Job description

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Power company to recruit an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Engineer for their Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant in Plymouth.

The EC&I Engineer role comes with starting salary of up to £70,000 + benefits package.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for:

  1. Managing the integrity of HV/LV Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) systems onsite including Generators, Transformers, Motors, Electrical control systems, DC systems, and HV/LV distribution systems.
  2. Collaborating closely with the EC&I Support Engineer and EC&I Graduate Engineer to distribute responsibilities, ensuring high levels of availability, reliability, knowledge retention, and compliance to relevant internal and external technical standards and legislation.
  3. Planning and executing electrical inspections activities, both technically and financially, during scheduled outages.
  4. Developing a longer-term planning view, managing the asset through station life and system obsolescence.
  5. Ensuring the correct maintenance plans are in place for electrical and control systems, carried out, and the periodicity is correct to maximise reliability.
  6. Supporting the Engineering and Maintenance teams in fault finding, engineering solutions, and root cause analysis on electrical and control issues.
  7. Delivering on and project managing capital projects on electrical and control systems such as upgrades and replacement.
  8. Contributing to budget planning across 5 year rolling business plan period for electrical systems. Overseeing and managing within year delivery and phasing of electrical budgets.
  9. Managing electrical contracts through identification, budgeting, specification and execution.
  10. Leading on management of Electrical works ensuring high levels of quality management and documentation at all stages.
Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  1. HND / Degree qualified Engineer in relevant subject (such as Electrical Engineering).
  2. Experience working on High Voltage (1000V and above) and Low Voltage Electrical Systems in heavy industrial setting.
  3. A strong understanding of Controls and Instrumentation equipment.
  4. Any experience working on Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or on HV and LV protection would be highly desirable.
  5. Experience on DCS (Distributed Control Systems) would be useful.
