Electrical Biased Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Zenith People are working with our client who are recruiting for an experienced, Time-served Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician on a permanent basis. The main purpose of the role is to provide engineering/maintenance support by performing plant preventative maintenance, engineering support both during working hours and also out of hours support by working as part of an on-call roster (on call allowance when on call).

You will be responsible for:

1. Electrical/mechanical maintenance, repair and fault finding of plant and equipment.
2. Fulfilling the requirements of the facility CMMS to reduce unplanned downtime and work towards improvement of OEE.
3. Electrical/mechanical fault finding, isolation and repair of equipment.
4. Providing input into the electrical maintenance and operation of plant equipment.
5. Carrying out evaluation and risk assessments within all areas of the plant to ensure safe working methods and environment.
6. Ensuring that plant critical spares are maintained at the required level.
7. Identifying suitable external resources when appropriate for routine maintenance activities or ongoing improvement projects.
8. Using SAP to raise purchase requisitions as appropriate.
9. Working on plant improvement initiatives and making recommendations to reduce unplanned downtime.
10. Working with suitable external engineering services as and when required to ensure safe and effective operation of plant equipment.
11. Undertaking periodic training to ensure that maintenance activities are performed in compliance with best safe working practice and current legislation.

Shifts: Days & Lates

Basic Salary: £40K - £45K Plus an annual On Call Allowance of £2K Per annum.

For each on-call the Engineers work, they get at least 4 hours overtime paid at time & 1/2 Monday to Thursday. Friday to Sunday Call Outs are paid at Double Time. Currently, an average of 4 x call outs per month per Engineer.

Potential annual earnings with £2K call out plus call out overtime are estimated at £50K - £53K per annum.

No Night Shift on calls

Qualifications & Skills Required:

1. Minimum NVQ Level 3 - Previous practical experience working in High Volume Manufacturing Plant.
2. Experience of maintaining and fault finding on the following types of equipment; PLC control, Variable Speed Drives, Conveyor Systems.
3. Familiar with the requirements of working in High Volume Manufacturing.
4. Excellent internal and external communications skills.
5. Experience of working in an on-call maintenance system.
