Location: Colne, North Yorkshire

Salary: £44,000

Hours: Days - Rotational weeks

  • Week 1: Mon - Thurs (06:15-16:30)
  • Week 2: Mon - Thurs (07:15-16:00), Friday (07:30-14:00)

Our client, a global medical device manufacturer, is looking to recruit an experienced electrically biased Maintenance Technician/Engineer. The site is state of the art with potential to move onto shift (25% uplift). This role is suited to someone looking to move into a GMP facility (from a BRC/FMCG background), or to move to days, or to further their career with an established medical devices company.

The Role

Maintenance of Medical Device Manufacturing equipment and processes located within controlled manufacturing areas. Carry out planned maintenance, calibration, machine changeover/set-up, and breakdown repair of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation, associated with process equipment. Support site Facilities as required. Ensure recording of all work activities within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure compliance within a regulated industry.

  • Respond quickly to maintenance support on manufacturing equipment to achieve production output standards. Support environmental and utilities systems at the facility.
  • Deliver excellent customer service resulting in asset uptime, first time fix, and quality workmanship.
  • Actively contribute to the development of departmental processes and procedures.
  • Lead maintenance activities in areas of responsibility, including breakdown support and improvement work.
  • Provide proactive support of a continuous improvement culture that develops factory assets, procedures, processes and systems.
  • Comply with planned maintenance/calibration regimes; ensure work is completed and recorded in a timely manner within the CMMS.
  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders regarding equipment status during breakdowns and any engineering requirements within Operational areas.
  • Comply with site Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and standards; maintain safe working conditions.
The Person
  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, NVQ 3, ONC/HNC equivalent, or substantial experience as a Main Technician/Engineer in a similar setting.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Technician and/or Engineer in a Pharmaceutical, Chemical, FMCG, or Food setting is essential.
  • The ideal candidate may hold additional electrical qualifications.
  • Strong fault finding and problem solving skills (electrical with some mechanical).
  • Proficient in IT / Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to work well in a team and independently when needed.
