Electrical and Electronics Engineer

Proftech Talent are working with Motormax on the recruitment of Electronics and Electronics Engineer to join their Shenstone based team. They are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Electrical and Electronics Engineer with a strong background in PCB design and embedded systems. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in electrical and electronics engineering, a passion for innovative design, and experience working from concept to manufacture. As part of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in supporting and improving their systems and products through your diverse skill set.

Motormax specialise in the design and production of innovative vehicle safety and security products. Their products range from cameras and digital video recorders through to reverse parking solutions and their customers range from individuals and small businesses through to extensive fleet work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PCB Design & Development: Responsible for schematic design, PCB layout, and development of complex multi-layered circuit boards from concept to manufacture.
  • Embedded Systems & Firmware Development: Develop and implement embedded systems and firmware solutions.
  • Product Support & Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for legacy and current system designs, including debugging, testing, and ensuring seamless integration of components.
  • Process Improvement: Redesign processes and documentation to improve workflow, reduce errors, and support training for new hires.
  • Component Obsolescence Management: Oversee the management of component obsolescence by updating BOMs, finding alternate suppliers, and ensuring the continuity of production.
  • Prototype Design & Testing: Develop prototypes and oversee their design, testing, and assembly.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with mechanical, systems engineers, and suppliers to solve complex technical problems and meet tight deadlines.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation, including BOMs, design requirements, and reference materials.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • PCB Design & Layout: Proficiency in PCB design tools.
  • Embedded Systems Development: Experience with embedded system design and firmware development.
  • Firmware & Circuit Design: Strong skills in analogue and digital circuit design, including mixed-signal circuits and sensor integration.
  • Manufacturing Support: Experience with PCB assembly, testing, and prototype circuit board assembly.
  • Project Management: Ability to liaise with suppliers and management to develop project plans, manage timelines, and communicate progress effectively.
  • Process Improvement: Ability to identify inefficiencies and redesign processes to improve overall team performance and knowledge sharing.

Desired Experience:

  • Strong experience working with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and solve complex system-level issues.
  • Hands-on experience with developing and testing electrical systems, including custom microcontroller designs and sensor arrays.
