What are we looking for

We have an opportunity for an Electrical and Control Engineer within the design team. The successful candidate will ensure the timely delivery of control and safety systems for mega-watt scale electrolysers, contributing to the design of communication networks, software development, electrical design, and detailed documentation.

Responsibilities

1. Creation of automation project documentation (URS, FDS, cause & effect, alarm lists, test plans, logic flow diagrams).
2. Technical review and approval of electrical and control project documentation, including MCC and Panel drawings.
3. Development of control and safety concepts.
4. Design and development of communication networks both internal to ITM products and external communication with client networks.
5. Definition of PLC automation system and software coding.
6. Support during plant commissioning.
7. Participate in plant safety studies and design reviews (HAZOP/LOPA).
8. Technical review and approval of subcontractor electrical equipment and software.
9. Liaise, coordinate, and communicate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams both internally and externally to ITM Power.

About You

Knowledge and Experience

1. Time served engineer qualified to ONC/HNC/HND or relevant degree.
2. Experience (> 5 years) working with industrial automation systems.
3. Experience working in an industrial plant environment.
4. Proficiency with Siemens PLCs, specifically S7-300/400/1200/1500.
5. Knowledge of safety systems including safety relays and safety PLCs.
6. Programming skills in TIA Portal, Step 7, or PCS 7 using ladder logic, CFC, and SCL.
7. Experience with SCADA and HMI systems design and troubleshooting.
8. Experience with building and troubleshooting LAN and WAN networks.
9. Knowledge of Profibus, ProfiNet, and Modbus communication protocols.
10. Experience with Variable Speed Drives commissioning.
11. Understanding of IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 standards for software specification and design.

Skills and Abilities

1. Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, team-oriented.
2. A proactive attitude and willingness to engage in all project phases.
3. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
4. Attention to detail and a methodical work approach.
5. Full UK or EU driving license.
6. Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas occasionally.
